    The land looked so much different when the settlers first came to what is now Indiana. Take a hike and ‘travel back in time’ at Oak Ridge Prairie to enjoy the beauty of the tall grass prairie in autumn. Join us either Thursday September 6 or Thursday September 20 at 9:30-11 AM.   2. Fall Nature Playdates

    Designed for kids ages 2-6 along with their grown-up, this series of monthly playdates invites visitors to get out and explore the natural wonders of the different Lake County Parks. On the 3rd Friday of the month, meet at the assigned park from 10-11 AM and see what that park has in store for us! Parks and their playdates: September 21 @ Lemon Lake, October 19 @ Buckley Homestead and November 16 @ Deep River.

  3. Bird Feeding for Migration and Winter

    Take a hayride and spend the day seeing the historic park Buckley Homestead. On weekends from Sunday September 23 to Sunday October 28 at 1 and 2 PM. Hayride is $2 per person with paid admissions except for Fall Fest dates (October 13 and 14).

  6. Weekly Dragonfly and Butterflies Hike

    Gibson Woods is home to 23 documented species of dragonflies, as well as many butterflies. This year’s hikes will include a focus on butterflies as we walk each Tuesday from May 29-September 25 to find out who is flitting about.
