    Fall is a great time to see our feathered friends including thrushes, warblers, sparrows and vireos as they migrate back to their winter homes. Walk with a park naturalist who is visiting the Woods. Pre-registration required, call 219-844-3188. Program is free, donations appreciated. Program is designed for adults.

    We'll go up up and away with some kite fun. Program is designed for children 5 and under along with their families. Check out our other Pre-School in the Park programs happening every Wednesday from September 4 - October 30 at 10 am! Each includes a story time, in addition to hands-on activity or craft.     Homeschool Days at Deep River County Park allow students to get the full hands on experience at Wood's Grist Mill. Sign up and join us on September 19 from 10-11:30 AM. No groups are required, everyone is welcome. Homeschool days is $2 per person. Make sure to register in advance by calling 219-947-1958.

    Discover the natural wonders of the Lake County Parks during a monthly play date. We will meet at a different park each month to see what nature has in store to explore. Ages 2-6 with caregiver.     Join the park staff as we get up sloe and personal with the livestock that call Buckley Homestead home. Program starts at 12:30. There will also be a non-reserved tractor drawn hayride tour of the Homestead at 3 PM. The hayride is $2 per person and will start from the barnyard. Program is included with $2 admission fee and will run on a first come, first serve basis. The topic of the program is subject to change.
