    Join us at Grand Kankakee Marsh* and peek into the lives of those who would have lived or traded along the waterways of the Midwest more than 250 years ago when the marshes were a source of valuable furs desired by merchant traders to take back to Europe. Meet Native Americans, French-Canadian canoe men, called Voyageurs, British and French militia, early settlers, and many others. Event includes canoe races, lifestyle demonstrations, music, and more! There's plenty for people of all ages to see and explore! *In the event the river is too high the event will be relocated to a dryer location. If needed, this will be announced the week of the event. Please double check before heading out.

  2. Deep River Grinders vs. Chicago Salmon

    May 16, 2021, 2:00 PM @ Deep River County Park

    Come out for a game of vintage base ball where we play according to the rules of 1858. Pack a picnic blanket or some chairs and relax as you enjoy this great American pastime. While you're here, be sure to grab a copy of the Deep River Register, our local paper (only 1 cent!) and enjoy a cookie when they're handed out (free, but donations are welcome). Games typically last around 2 hours and are open to all ages.
